Areas of Practice

At Brilliant Minds we seek to make the best connection between the therapist, the child, and the world around them.

If your child has been formally diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, you’re in the right place to get help.

We develop specifically tailored ABA treatment plans for our patients. We also collaborate strongly with the family and outside services and professionals to create a teamwork approach.

If your child has not been formally diagnosed, but you have identified areas of concern, please reach out to your pediatrician or insurance provider to find the closest diagnostician near you.

  • Applied Behavior Analysis Direct Treatment

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically proven method to assist children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to reach their highest potential by increasing socially appropriate behaviors and decreasing socially inappropriate behaviors.

The intensity of treatment will be prescribed by your Board Certified Behavior Analysis based on a series of assessments specific to your child. Treatment will include in-center and potentially in-home assistance to determine child specific plans. Our goal is to prepare you child for the life you have envisioned for them so they can access the least restrictive environment with the most success.

  • Parent Training

Parent training is an integral piece of assisting children with behavioral problems. Helping parents understand the best interventions for their child will aid in resolving and reducing conflict in the home. The most progress is made when parents are heavily involved. You know your child the best, and are their best advocate after all.

Parent training starts with a series of interviews and assessments, along with direct treatment of the child. Data will be gathered to determine appropriate interventions. Based on the family’s needs, direct training or guidance will be provided to implement these interventions. Data will be collected on these skills for parent implementation, not the child’s response to the intervention. This allows the team to determine whether or not the family is capable of implementing ABA principals as it is not the intention for the team to provide an intervention for every parent concern.

  • School Observation

Bridging the gap between school, ABA, and home can resolve a lot of unanswered questions for your child. A school observation can be conducted to determine what is working at school and how to incorporate that in other environments your child may be struggling in.

It is not the intention of your ABA provider to assist with difficulties at school. ABA is a medical service that can only co-treat with other providers and have no authority within your child’s school. If you feel that you need additional support, a school advocate would be the best legal representative to help you voice your concerns.

  • Medical Appointments

Medical appointments can be extremely overwhelming, especially with the amount of jargon that is commonly used during the evaluation process. Assistance can be provided to attend in-person visits, telehealth appointments, assessment results and records review to better understand your child’s needs.

Direct treatment or parent training can also be utilized for in-person doctor, dentist, eye doctor, and other medical appointments if deemed necessary by your team. This can help devise a specific plan to alleviate stress for you and your child.

  • Social Groups

Children who are enrolled in school on a full time basis, that would benefit from continued treatment may be considered for our after school social group program. This consists of community outings, learning how to make and maintain relationships, and working as a team.

  • Fading Services and Discharge

ABA is not intended to be a lifelong service for your child. While some individuals may benefit from long-term support, the duration of ABA therapy is individualized and depends on the child's needs, goals, and progress. It's more of a temporary intervention designed to help individuals acquire new skills and behaviors, with the goal of eventually reducing or discontinuing ABA services once those goals are achieved.
